THE PROCESS

Simple Strategic Sustainable

Before we meet

First up, a free 20-minute video/phone call. This gives you a chance to share why you are looking for nutrition support and me to explain what I offer

If you choose to work with me, I will ask you to complete a very detailed health and lifestyle questionnaire, and 3 day food diary, ahead of your first consultation. This means we can maximise the session time we have together

Initial consultation

We will discuss your health goals, symptoms, health questionnaire and food diary in detail. I will suggest what may be underlying your health issues and make some initial recommendations, which may include testing, to give us more valuable insight into your current health. We will put together your initial personalised nutrition and health plan. You will receive your consultation notes, plan, relevant resources (menus, recipes, handouts etc), testing and supplement recommendations, and any referral letters, within 5 working days

Follow up consultations

These will be scheduled 2-6 weeks apart, depending on your chosen package and your particular health goals. These sessions are shorter but follow a similar format to your initial consultation. Will will discuss how your symptoms have changed, the progress you have made towards your health goals, how you have managed the recommendations, trouble shoot any issues and update & build on your plan. We will review your test results (where relevant). I will explain what these show, how we might address any issues identified and if further testing is warranted

SPECIALIST TESTING

How we test

Your bloods are “all normal” but you still feel rubbish?

Functional lab testing is different from the standard testing your GP or consultant carries out. The standard blood tests you are familiar with are basically used to rule out pathology or help diagnose a particular disease.

Functional testing, on the other hand, is designed to give a far broader and more detailed overview of your health status by looking at how your body is working.  They can reveal underlying imbalances, or less-than-ideal functioning, in a variety of body systems. Interpreted by experts, functional test results can paint a more comprehensive and precise picture of the root causes of poor health or sub-optimal functioning. This can be particularly useful for clients with vague or non-specific symptoms, or particularly complex health pictures.

Prevention is better than cure

It can also alert us to subtle abnormalities that, left unchecked,  may cause significant health issues in future – facilitating early intervention and prevention.

What we test

Testing can tell us a lot about your nutrient status, gut health, hormone health, immune health and metabolic health. It helps us answer questions like:

*Am I digesting and absorbing my food optimally?
*Does my gut contain a healthy balance of bacteria?
*Do I have unhealthy levels of inflammation?
*Am I low in any vitamins or minerals?
*What are my sex hormones doing?
*Is my thyroid off?
*Am I looking after my heart as well as I could be?

I have access to hundreds of cutting edge tests from some of the best specialist laboratories in Europe. After analysing your results, I will recommend a combination of dietary changes, targeted nutraceutical supplements and lifestyle changes to address any issues found. Where necessary, I will refer you on to your GP.

FAQ

  • Are you tired of feeing tired?
  • Are you fed up being told all your blood tests are “normal” when you feel anything but?
  • Maybe you’re desperate to lose weight but, whenever you try, you either pile it back on or just seem to plateau?
  • Have you had enough of tummy troubles ruling your life, looking 6 months pregnant, and living in fear of food?
  • Are distressing period symptoms, PMS or peri/menopause symptoms getting in the way of living?
  • Perhaps you feel your autoimmune condition controls you, rather than the other way around?
  • Is stress, anxiety or burn out stealing your quality of life?
  • Perhaps you don’t consider yourself “ill”, but your health isn’t where you want it to be?
  • Do you feel like you have exhausted your options?
  • Do you want to eat better for your body,  but feel confused – and frankly overwhelmed – by all the conflicting information out there?
  • Are you ready to change, but so busy you have no idea how or where to start?
  • Do you find diets too restrictive and unsustainable?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then I can help

I work with clients over 8 to 12 weeks, although some people benefit from longer term support. I find this the most effective way to understand you, your body and your life, and to help undo habits of a lifetime.

It’s very unlikely you got sick overnight, and likewise your journey back to health will be a process.  This is because nutrition and lifestyle medicine is not a quick fix. I won’t just give you a pill- I hope to change your life – and that takes time and commitment

We can discuss more on your discovery call but it very much depends on the complexity of your health issues, how long you have had your symptoms and your wellness goals.

The first step is to book your free, no obligation discovery call. This gives us a chance to get to know each other. You can share your story and the kind of support you’re looking for, and I will explain how we work and outline a rough plan of action

This varies widely depending on the number and complexity of your health issues, how long you have had them, your wellness goals, what else is going on in your life, and how committed you are to your health optimisation plan. Some clients notice big improvements within a few weeks, while others need many months. Think of it like this: it’s taken you months – or more likely years – to get to where you are today, so it will likely take some time to get you where you want to be

I work with clients for a minimum of 3 sessions over 8 weeks. Many clients will benefit from 6 sessions or even longer term support . This is because nutrition and lifestyle medicine is not a quick fix. I won’t just give you a pill, I hope to change your life, and that takes time and commitment

Testing can be invaluable to help us understand your current levels of vitamins, minerals and blood fats, hormone levels, digestive function, microbiota composition, inflammation levels, heart health, liver function etc. I will only ever suggest a test if there is a clear clinical justification to do so, and tests are entirely optional. The same goes for nutritional supplements

We are based in Norwich, Norfolk, but work with clients nationwide! The majority of clients opt for video consultations. If you would prefer a face-to-face appointment and are local or happy to travel, that’s fine too

We do! In fact 90% of our clients choose to have consultations from the comfort and privacy of their own home or office. We use Zoom (or your choice of video conferencing software)

Yes, nutritional therapy is very safe in the hands of a BANT registered nutritional therapy practitioner. We have trained for many years in the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care.

It’s a non-invasive approach that focuses on food and lifestyle shifts first to improve health.

However, it’s always advisable to inform your primary healthcare provider about any new health regime you’re starting, and I will always keep your GP in the loop (with your consent).

Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach and should be used alongside conventional medical treatment where indicated

No problem! A registered nutritional therapist is trained to consider any potential interactions between pharmaceutical drugs and nutritional supplements. For your own safety, we ask you to disclose all recent/current medication and any supplements you are taking. We will never advise you to discontinue prescribed medication and will keep your GP updated (with your consent)

We accept payment by card or bank transfer. Payment plans are available (if paying by card)

We cannot currently accept medical insurance

I understand that life happens and sometimes, you will need to re-arrange a consultation. I simply ask that you let me know at least 48 hours ahead of time, to allow me to fill your appointment.

Provided you have given the required notice, I will then reschedule the consultation at no extra charge.
